Talking to Strangers

I am shooting more environmental portraits lately. One reason is that I'm trying to satisfy an assignment for a class I'm taking at the Center for Documentary Studies, at Duke University. Photographing complete strangers is both terrifying and fantastic; you have to get buy-in from the participants, condense a lot of visual information quickly, and pray for a good outcome.

  1. Lisa, this portrait makes me think of an abandoned project I started a couple of years ago. I was knocked out by Milton Rogovin's work and was inspired to embark on a similar effort for Toronto. I packed it in due to time constraints. I wish I had more time. I hope you do because this is an auspicious start. Nice work as usual.

    cheers Jan
